Haystack Phantoms mission is to revolutionize medical task trainers for ultrasound-guided procedures.

The problem with current training tools for ultrasound-guided procedures or ultrasound phantoms is that they are expensive. Which means that not every clinic or hospital has the budget to acquire practical training tools, and therefore does their training directly on patients.

More challenges with current phantoms on the market are:

They take up too much space and often include unnecessary parts.
They lack realism and variation of tissue
They are too easy to master and lack real-life challenge
Little development has occurred within the last few decades, and no sustainable solutions are available.

Behind Haystack Phantoms

With the combined background, as Physicians and Engineers, Haystack is already making great strides. However, developing medical devices is a long and complex journey where experience can make all the difference.

The team consists of Jakob Louis Demant Thomsen, an anesthesiologist with a PhD that has acquired research in medical education. And Claus Baumann, an Engineer with a Masters from DTU, has a vast array of experience within medtech innovation and development.
